All New King of the Ring - McLaren P1

McLaren do like to keep matters of business out of the spot light. Specifically, we’re talking about just how fast the McLaren P1 can race around the famous Nürburgring, we may just be seeing the new king of the Ring!

Some people see the Nürburgring lap times to be market ploys, but others, like McLaren take it very seriously and strive to be the fastest at all costs.

6 Minutes 30 Seconds

Earlier in 2013, word came that McLaren was pushing hard to to get its P1 down below the seven minute threshold. We also heard that a rumor that the P1 went so far as to set an absolutely crazy figure of a few milliseconds above six minutes and 30 seconds.

King of the Ring

We recently heard from Autocar that the P1 did indeed rip round the Ring and achieve six minutes and 30+ seconds. If this is true, it would put the McLaren P1 into a class of its own. Take a look at a few other times for comparison’s sake:

Radical SR8 LM – 6:48

Porsche 918 Spyder – 6:57

Nissan GT-R Nismo – 7:08

So if the P1 truly winds up in the 6:30 range, it will have done something truly amazing. We eagerly await official word on this matter.
