Morgan Special Plus 8 Speedster

Special Plus 8 Speedster

The Plus 8 Speedster went on sale in June 2014. Morgan say “the latest evolution of the Plus 8, offers an even more invigorating driving experience inspired by a bygone era of stripped back, road going race cars”.

Under the bonnet is the familiar BMW-sourced 4.8-litre naturally-aspirated V8 that produces 367bhp. All that power goes through the rear wheels via a ZF 6 speed auto gearbox.

The performance figures on the Plus 8 Speedster are amazing. It will go from 0-60 in 4.2 seconds and is electrically limited to 148mph.

The mighty Special Plus 8 Speedster comes with a £69,995 price tag. It is a high price, but it is a very special car. Could this possibly be the  best Morgan ever made?

Please Make The Jaguar F-Type Shooting Brake

Jaguar’s release of the F-Type last year really caught the eye of the motoring world; everyone was gobsmacked at just how good looking this car was. A few months ago, thanks to an automotive render, we can see what the Jaguar F-Type may look like as a Shooting Brake variant. Unfortunately apart from exciting a few car lovers, like myself, nothing has happened with regards to making this car actually happen yet, shall we start a petition?

Jaguar F-Type Shooting Brake

In the Shooting Brake format the car looks simply amazing and in many ways better then the original coupe design. With a higher roof stretching to a significantly smaller rear window, compared to the coupe, the proportions are absolutely spot on. The Shooting Brake also has many practical advantages over the coupe with its increased cabin space along with the additional luggage space.Jaguar F-Type Shooting Brake

Porsche 918 Spyder The Greatest Porsche Ever!

In May 2013 Porsche released the super sports car for the next decade. Over a year later this is still breaking records. To remind you, the Porsche 918 Spyder is an 887bhp Hybrid 4.6 litre V8, mid-engined, all-wheel drive, 211mph road going race car with exhausts that come out of the roof.

Porsche 918 Spyder (9)

Creating this car Porsche started with a clean sheet of paper and built this fantastic car from the ground up. The mission was to build a car with ‘maximum performance using minimum fuel consumption’… a very interesting challenge to say the least.

Porsche 918 Spyder (6)

Nurburgring Record – 7:14

There is no doubt the 918 will get compared directly against the Carrera GT, but there is a strong chance it could become the best sports car of the last 50 years. Early tests have seen the 918 Spyder achieving 7 minutes 14 seconds around the Nordschleife, that is an impressive 20 seconds quicker than the Carrera GT.

Porsche 918 Spyder (16)

Why is it so fast?

There is a 4.6 litre engine in the middle (608bhp), a hybrid motor on the rear axle (115kw) and an electric motor on the front axle (95kw). All 3 working together will give 887bhp to the tyres and a huge smile every time you put your foot down. More good news about the power delivery is that it will scream all the way up to 9,150rpm when you will be looking grab another gear from the 7 speed PDK gearbox.

Porsche 918 Spyder (12)It’s Everyones Dream Car

I’m yet to meet anyone who isn’t impressed by the Porsche 918 Spyder, it is expensive starting at around £667,000, and the more stylish and slightly lighter Weissach edition starts at around £729,000.  However great job Porsche we love the 918 Spyder.

10 Reasons Why The Bentley GTC V8 is Perfect

After 7 days of living with the Bentley Continental GTC V8 here are 10 reasons, in no particular order, why this car is worth dying for.

1. That 4.0-Litre V8 and it’s Insane Power

The torque delivered from its 500bhp engine is ridiculous. The engine produces huge amounts of torque, and it smashes the car forward on the road at a completely relentless rate, it is truly unbelievable!

2. Fancy Looks

I didn’t realise how impressive it looked until I saw it up close, and wow! It looks amazing inside and out, it has been very well designed, and implemented to an exceptional level.  What a beautiful car.

Bentley GTC V8 PH (15)

3. 187mph Top Speed

It’s not often you get in a car that can get to 187mph. The GTC will even do that speed with the top off which must be one unreal experience.

Bentley Continental GTC V8 RM (134)

4. It has the Perfect Interior

The inside of the Bentley is probably as good as they come. In the model tested there was £4,000 worth of carbon fibre, £3,500 of custom stitching, and a £6,000 ultra premium Niam audio system to keep you entertained. The level of luxury and quality inside the GT is very impressive.

5. Diamond Quilted Leather Seats

Everywhere you look on the interior of the Bentley it is dressed with diamond quilted premium leather, which really gives the car the perfect exclusive, quality feel on the inside.

6. Electrically Adjustable Dampers – The Ultimate Ride Quality

This being a big GT car it needs to be both deadly fast, but also very comfortable, Bentley have achieved this by using adaptive dampers. Depending on your mood you can change the damper settings from comfortable to sport mode using the touch screen display.

7. Ear Damaging V8 Exhaust Notes

That impressive V8 in sport mode makes the most impressive sound when you press the accelerator.

8. Record Breaking Carbon Ceramic Brakes

As an £10,000 option, Bentley fits the car with 42cm ceramic brakes; the largest ceramic brakes that have been fitted on any production car. As the GT weighs 2,500kg, these brakes are a must if you wish to drive it fast, and will rip your face off if you hit the peddle hard.

9. Making a Lifestyle Statement

At £195,000, purchasing the Bentley Continental GTC V8 is very much a lifestyle statement. Only the super rich can afford this car, which provides an amazing Bentley driving experience and holds ultimate prestige against all of its rivals.

Bentley GTC V8 PH (62)

10. Supreme Quality

Every single thing on the car is designed and built to such a high standard. Even the paintwork on the car hasn’t been missed, it was the deepest paint I have ever seen.

Bitesize Review - Citroen C1 Platinum 1.0i 5 Door

The Citroen C1 Experience

The overall experience of living with the Citroen C1 Platinum is great one. On the drive, on the road, and parked up at the local supermarket the C1 looks pretty cool, with the carlinite grey roof and sporty spoiler, the white C1 certainly looks the business and stands out from the competition.

Citroen C1 Platinum

I even found myself making excuses to take a sneaky trip out in the car. Every trip I made just seemed a little bit easier. Easy to get into, start up, move of, pull a u-turn, and park in a busy car park, nothing seemed like a challenge in the C1.

Citroen C1 Platinum

Overall

The C1 does everything asked of it to a high standard. It looks great, and it’s affordable. Having the platinum edition gives the car a taste of exclusivity on the road and you will be so impressed with how practical and yet enjoyable this small city car actually is. Great job Citroen!

One Year On Aston Martin CC100 Speedster

Over a year ago Aston Martin released their 100th year anniversary celebration concept car, cleverly named the CC100 Speedster, and a year on it still looks amazing. As with every new Aston, the design is second to none; this concept car is exactly what I would imagine you’d see if you looked Aston Martin straight in the eye and into its soul.

Aston Martin CC100 (27)

The concept made its world debut with a quick lap of the Nordschleife during the ADAC Zurich 24 hours of Nurburgring race.

Aston Martin CC100 (21)

The styling is modern and bold, but still portrays Aston’s true roots. We can take from this concept car design features that may be built into production of Aston’s in the near future, for example the over-sized front grill, the high angled headlights and the interesting round tail lights.

Aston Martin CC100 (30)

Are we looking at AM Designs of the future

The CC100 shares some strong design features with the legendary 1959 Le Mans winning racing car, the DBR1, and it has been carefully built using aerospace standard materials including a carbon fibre interior and exterior. These design efforts have ensured that the car is as light as possible. The kerb weight is said to be below 1,200KG.

Aston Martin CC100 (20)

Considering how lightweight the CC100 is, Aston Martin still ensured that the concept housed the latest generation AM11 naturally aspired 6.0 litre V12 engine, and used a six speed hydraulically actuated automated sequential manual gearbox. This means gears will be selected via paddles on the steering wheel, which perfectly suits this strictly track focused Aston.

Aston Martin CC100 (17)

Performance Figures

Aston are yet to release the power specification for the car, but they have said that the CC100 will do 0-62 in little over 4 seconds and will be limited to 180mph. 180mph without a windscreen, that is Formula 3 territory!
