Lucky Lewis Hamilton Named Wealthiest British Sportsman 2014

The Sunday Times have released there Rich List for 2014 and F1 driver Lewis Hamilton was crowned the wealthiest British sportsman of the year.

By how much you ask? Apparently, lucky Lewis has £68 million in the bank from his racing career. Jenson Button was close behind with an estimated worth of £63 million.

Just to put this into perspective, Wayne Rooney earns £300k a week and is ranked third with £60 million in the bank.

For information The Sunday Times Rich List is created by reviewing identifiable assets like houses, cars, land, planes, boats and shares etc.

Congrats to Lewis being named the wealthiest British man in sport before reaching 30 years old.

Behind the Scenes Motorsport Vision Racing - Silvertone

I attended the Motorsport Vision Racing meet at Silverstone on the 26th April 2014 to Marshall the circuit.

The event was packed full with cars, and despite the rain it was a great day out. Here are some of the pictures behind the scenes of the event.

Motorsport Vision Racing have opted for the e92 BMW M3 as a safety car. The M3 got a lot of use during the Lotus Cup UK race on Saturday, because of the huge grid and poor weather, more than 70% of the race was run under the safety car.

At any motoring event I love a good look around the customer car park for something a bit special. I spotted this classic Volvo, which I believe is a Volvo P 1800 SE. I have never seen a 1800 on the road, let alone one in this good condition, what a beauty!

The Fast and The Furious Tribute Video made with Remote Control Cars

The seventh instalment of the Fast and the Furious series won’t be released until later this year, but if you need a quick Fast and Furious fix, take a look at this tribute that was created by some Fast and Furious fans using remote control cars.

The video was made by Vax Studio, they call themselves amateur, but the film is actually pretty impressive for what it is. The short film even has some computer generated effects in some of the scenes.

The cars in the movie include a Nissan GT-R, a classic Camaro, a Nissan Silvia and a pair of modern Camaro police cars. Take a look at the video below and let me us know what you think.

LaFerrari XX Might Have Lapped Nürburgring in 6:35

With the recent release of the Porsche 918 Spyder, the McLaren P1, and the Ferrari LaFerrari, we have all been eagerly waiting to see which one comes out ‘king of the ring’, and there is no better proving ground for this than the Nürburgring. So far we haven’t had all the information to answer this question. But we have now seen the LaFerrari XX take on the Nordschleife.

Porsche were the first to release the figures of the 918 Spyder completing a lap time of 6:57, staking its claim as the fastest production car ever to lap the Nordschleife. This was followed by McLaren who say that they have achieved a time under 7 minutes. Ferrari haven’t released any official figures just yet.

However, there are rumours that the LaFerrari XX achieved a lap time of 6:35 around the Nordschleife. To be clear this wasn’t in the production car, but the track-bound LaFerrari XX. If this time is confirmed, this would make  the LaFerrari XX the fastest production based car ever to lap the Nürburgring.
