Aston Martin Opens its First Showroom in Mexico

Aston Martin has recently entered the Mexican market through the opening of their first dealership in the country; a bold statement that shows that the brand is committed to its customers in the region. It is said that a large quota of their future sales is likely to come from the area.

The showroom and offices are located in the exclusive Polanco neighbourhood in Mexico City, where 6 cars can be displayed inside in the luxury and glamorously designed building. New customers can now picture their customisation to cars in the showroom rather than having to make assumptions online as they would without the local dealership.

The press were invited to take a look around the opening in the morning to get a taste of the showroom and know the details regarding sales and deployment plans for 2014. It is safe to say many more Aston Martin’s will be roaming the streets of Mexico soon.

Toyota's New TS040 Hybrid LMP1 Race Car

Toyota is well known as the world’s leading car manufacturer in hybrid technology, and for its brilliant innovation with its road cars.

TS040 Hybrid LMP1

Toyota are introducing the new TS040 Hybrid LMP1 race car! The Japanese car maker will look to once again prove it has the know how to compete with hybrids on the race track.

The new Toyota Racing TS040 Hybrid will compete in the 2014 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), which includes the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans, and hopes to take down Audi and Porsche for ultimate racing glory.

Toyota TS040 Hybrid LMP1 (3)

WEC Rule Changes

The rules mandate that race cars must use at least 25 percent less fuel, prompting Toyota to further advance and refine technology used on the outgoing TS030 Hybrid.

Gains in aerodynamics and downforce, as well as Total developed lubricant technology, account for the improved fuel economy.

V8 Engined With Twin eMotors

Toyota’s new TS040 Hybrid will still use a V8 powered engine, and a pair of electric motor generators , but the engine size will increase from 3.4 litres to 3.7 litres.

Power from the V8 petrol engine and  electric motors total 986bhp, which is now sent to all four wheels. The electric motors can gather kinetic energy recovered during braking and store it for later use in a supercapacitor.

Porsche’s return to Le Mans with the 919 Hybrid is one of the biggest stories of this upcoming season, but Toyota will also have to wrangle with Audi and its R18 e-tron Quattro.

A Special Edition BMW to debut at Goodwood

In addition to the brand new BMW M4 Convertible set to debut at the Goodwood Festival of speed in July 2014, the German brand is said to be bringing a special anniversary edition to the motoring celebrations at Goodwood as well.

Special Edition BMW

Special Edition BMW

While this is all we currently know, it is very likely that we could be presented with a special version of the new BMW M3 or M4. We have no idea at this stage. But whatever it is, expect it to be a crowd pleaser!

BMW M4 (1)

As for the M4 convertible on its debut, there is a risk of it losing much of its driving dynamics and handling due to a weight gain of about 300kg, bringing the total figure well above the weight of 1,497kg edge of coupé.

BMW M4 (4)

However, expect it to remain identical to the coupé under the hood. As a result, it will feature a six-cylinder engine with twin-turbo revs up to 7,600 rpm, and producing an impressive 431 bhp, and 406 lb-ft of torque.

10 Reasons Why The Bentley GT Speed is Worth Dying For

After 7 days of living with the Bentley Continental GT Speed here are 10 reason why this car is worth dying for.

1. That 6.0-Litre W12 and it’s Insane Torque

The torque delivered from its 616bhp engine is ridiculous. The engine produces 800Nms of torque, and it smashes the car forward on the road at a completely relentless rate, it is truly unbelievable!

2. Those Premium Looks

I didn’t realise how impressive it looks until I saw it up close, and wow! It looks amazing inside and out. It is very well designed, and implemented to an exceptional level.  What a beautiful car.

3. 205mph Top Speed

It’s not often you get in a car that can break the 200mph limit into super car territory. The Bentley will power its way all the way up to the 205mph. Which is right up there with super car royalty such as Lambroghini, Pagani, and Ferrari.

4. It has a Perfect Interior

The inside of the Bentley is probably as good as they come. In the model tested there was £4000 worth of carbon fibre, £3500 of custom stitching, and a £6000 ultra premium Niam audio system to keep you entertained. The level of luxury and quality inside the GT is very impressive.

5. Diamond Quilted Leather

Everywhere you look on the interior of the Bentley, it is dressed with diamond quilted premium leather, which really gives the car the perfect exclusive, quality feel on the inside.

6. Adjustable Dampers – The Ultimate Ride Quality

This being a big GT car it needs to be both deadly fast, but also very comfortable, Bentley have achieved this by using adaptive dampers. Depending on your mood you can change the damper settings from comfortable to sport mode using the touch screen display.

7. Ear Damaging Exhaust Notes

That impressive w12 in sport mode makes the most impressive sound when you stomp on the accelerator. Have a quick listen to Bentley’s fastest production car.

8. Record Breaking Brakes

As an £10,000 option, Bentley fits the car with 42cm ceramic brakes; the largest ceramic brakes that have been fitted on any production car. As the GT weighs 2,500kg, these brakes are a must if you wish to drive it fast, and will rip your face off if you hit the peddle hard.

9. Making a Lifestyle Statement

At £186,000 the Bentley Continental GT Speed is very much a lifestyle statement of a car. Only the super rich can afford this car, which, provides the ultimate Bentley driving experience and holds ultimate prestige against all of its rivals.

Bentley Continental GT Speed Outdoors (104)

10. Supreme Quality

Every single thing on the car is designed and built to such a high standard. Even the paintwork on the car, which was the deepest paint I have ever seen.

Before the Test Drive - MG MG3 Style

Affordable, funky, and exciting; could this be what we think of the MG3 supermini?

What is the MG MG3 all about?

The MG3 is a fresh supermini which is in a highly populated market of customisable, small, fun cars. The MG3 has a little trick up its sleeve in that as well as being great looking and a usable, everyday car, it is also affordable. Starting at £8,399 and rising to £9,999 for the top spec model, its difficult to find a reason to say no to this car.

MG MG3 Style

It is powered by a 1.5-litre engine with 105bhp and 101lb/ft. It does 0-62mph in 10.4 seconds, which on paper is fairly similar to the competition.

The personalisation is what makes these cars great, there is a list of choices as long as your arm, including:

  • 4 Levels of spec

  • 10 Paint colours

  • All kinds or graphics for the roof, bonnet, and side trims

  • Different colour and style wheels

  • Different colour mirrors

  • Choices of interior trim

There are loads of options for personalisation and some of them look pretty good. Configure yours on MGs website and see what you think.

2014 MG MG3

The MG3 is a car that I am personally interested in, I’m happy to see the MG badge back on the road in its modern variant. The design concept looks great, super modern with sharp lines down the body work and even some cool graphics to spice thing up a little.

Expectations

I expect this car to be as good as its more expensive competitors if not better. The design, inside and out, has already put the MG3 in a good starting position.  The 1.5-litre petrol engine should  have enough power to make the MG move fairly rapidly, and I would expect that most people will be impressed to see a new MG out on the roads.

MG

For the car to succeed it will need to have a fun driving experience whist also being practical and efficient. It’s a tall ask, but I have high hopes for the MG3.

Bentley Tease new 'Luxury SUV'

Bentley have released a new teaser image of their upcoming foray into the SUV market which will be set for delivery in 2016. Bentley have refined their original EXP 9 F concept and dropped the single headlamp design for the more familiar ‘Continental’ style dual headlamps. Other changes are more subtle but Bentley inform us that the bodywork has been modified on the £140,000 plus ‘Luxury SUV’

That is where the Crewe based company sees itself smashing an otherwise crowded SUV market, the Luxury SUV will surpass all other competitors including even the best offerings from Range Rover. Judging by our recent experience of the Bentley Continental –It’s certainly a side of the market that they know a thing or two about.

teaser-for-bentleys-suv_100434338_l

The new SUV is also promised to be the most powerful on the market. Power in base trim is expected to come from Bentley’s twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8, while a twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter W-12 should remain an option. Further down the track a plug in hybrid model will be offered, and perhaps a diesel too.

Underpinning the vehicle is a Volkswagen Group platform that will be shared with next-generation versions of the Audi Q7, Porsche Cayenne and Volkswagen Touareg as well as a new SUV from Lamborghini. Bentley anticipates a minimum annual sales volume of 3,000 SUVs which would make it the marque’s most popular model.

Porsche Knows What’s Causing 911 GT3 Fires

Last month, Porsche halted sales of its most well known 911 GT3s after two examples spontaneously set on fire.

Since then, all 785 cars that had been delivered in Europe have been recalled. While a solution to the problem hasn’t been found yet, Porsche CEO Matthias Müller told German publication ‘Der Spiegel‘ that the brand is now aware of what the issue is.

PORSCHE 911 GT3 (1)

“We know what happened,” Müller said, before adding that “we are testing several fixes”. What exactly caused the fires, however, remains a mystery to the rest of us.

Porsche won’t directly comment on the problem, but Müller said that his company would speak in great detail about the issue once a solution had been found. Porsche tells us that GT3 owners will be informed prior to the media and the general public.

Ferrari Could be Developing a LaFerrari for the Masses

With only 499 LaFerraris planned for production, it was inevitable that many Ferrari fans and owners were disappointed not to be able to purchase this milestone car. LaFerraris are so difficult to get hold of, that in order to be considered for the LaFerrari, customers must have at least 5 other Ferraris as a whole.

LaFerrari for the Masses

LaFerrari for the Masses

Ferrari is working on a way to satisfy all customers that missed out on the LaFerrari. While speaking at the Geneva Motor Show 2014 with Autocar, company Chief Luca di Montezemolo said, “many customers were disappointed to not be able to own a LaFerrari, but we expect to have something special to offer them soon.”

laferrari

Sadly, for now, this is all we know, but this could mean that something exciting is on the way. Are Ferrari looking to develop another Ferrari hybrid supercar based on LaFerrari? Or maybe they are already working on a variant of the GTO Berlinetta F12, hoping this please those that have been dissapointed. At this point it’s all a big mystery, but any new Ferrari is always interesting.

Koenigsegg One:1 - Parts to Supercar in 4 Days

Thanks to Janlopnik, we are able to see Koenigsegg race to build the One:1 for the Geneva motor show in just four days!

When the photographers first turned up to see what was going on the car wasn’t exactly ‘almost finished’, the inside was empty. There was no front end panels, no bumper, no roof, no scoop, and the wrong wheels were on. For a company that builds around 10 cars a year, finishing one: 1 in just four days is more than a challenge.

Here is how the car evolved in those four days.

Parts to Supercar in 4 Days – Lets Get To Work

Koenigsegg One1 (29)

As you can see, it is nowhere near showroom condition with only 4 days before its début at Geneva.

Hand finished parts still being made and adjusted for the Koenigsegg One:1, the build isn’t as simple as putting all the parts together like a kit car, everything is bespoke.

The Koenigsegg engineering team worked flat out to get this master piece finished.

The adjustable rear wheel wing that is capable of providing massive amounts of down force appears to be stuck in place using tape! I’m sure there is a method to this madness.

It’s starting to look a lot more like the final product now.

A few final touches to the car, don’t forget to stick the wheels on, and the supercar is complete and ready for the Gevena motor show 2014 without a minute to spare.
